Al Wood: Mood Swingin' Blues
Completed a year to the day the first chord was struck, Al Wood's Mood Swingin' Blues is ready for its close up! Totally cool vibe throughout...a mixed up set of tracks ranging from straight up blues to grooved up moods. I had a blast with this one...looking forward to a September 2008 release!

Lynne Hanson: Eleven Months
Lynne Hanson is back with her awesome sophomore release Eleven Months. So much fun to work on this record..Lynne's songwrting is top notch and she's got the voice to match. Working on this CD hardly seemed like work..the vibe, the talent, the groove..awesome...I was so pleased to be a part of this album.

Peter Brown: Franklin Street
Peter Brown delivers a jazzy collection of tunes accompanied by Chris Breitner on bass and producer Bruce Wittet on drums. Serious fun to record..Peter plays so effortlessly...he makes it look easy! Standout tracks include Never Fall for a Broken Heart and The House on Franklin Street, featuring the guitar stylings of guest Wayne Eagles. A classy record from start to finish!

JW Jones: Bluelisted
JW's fifth release raises the bar even higher! This guitar driven collection features the guest talents of Little Charlie Baty, Junior Watson, Richard Innes, and Larry Taylor. Even the one and only Dan Aykroyd appears contributing the liner notes. JW and I decided to record the majority of this album at his house 'cuz his living room has some killer acoustics....I think it turned out real cool. And I gotta thank JW for almost allowing me to play tambourine on this one!

Daddy Long Legs: King for a Day
Lovingly produced by Steve Marriner, DLL's King for a Day sports 12 killer tracks of ultra dirty blues. I had a blast mixing this record and was real pleased with the results. This band grooves real hard and it was pleasure to be involved in the project. Check out some of the tracks here: www.myspace.com/daddylonglegsbluesband

Jeff Meleras: The Cottage Sessions
A laid back collection of songs by the one and only Meleras. Recorded live at a cottage in Val Des Monts, The Cottage Sessions features some killer performances captured when the mood struck. This is Jeff's second record in as many years and word on the street is that he's recording a third! There's no stopping this guy!...

Dyalek: Misinterpretations
Dyalek's debut CD is a killer set of modern jazz tracks...tons of improv, super melodic, totally tasteful. Partly recorded at Friday's Piano Lounge (an awesome recording space waiting to happen...), Misinterpretations hits some serious high notes. Make sure to check it out, and make sure to catch these dudes live, too...

Tony D: Shake For Me Again
A super groovy collection of Tony D's best tracks. I was pleased to be involved in mastering this project...a real trip to hear lots of awesome material from different studios, bands, players, and decades. Tony's one of a kind vocals and guitar playing shines throughout...

Rozalind MacPhail: Edgework
If you're looking for an eclectic mix of indie inspired moods, atmospheres, beats, melodies and of course, flute, be sure to check out this record. Produced by Rozalind, Edgework shows that it's possible to collaborate with musicians from all over Canada and still retain an overall sense of unity. A speedy internet connection and FTP access doesn't hurt either! Great work, Roz!

Kate and Hollis: Sugar Babe
Received a copy of Kate and Hollis' latest disc Sugar Babe. I loved mixing this record...big thanks to Kate and Hollis for letting me experiment with some non-traditional mix styles! This disc was recorded at their cozy Constant Sound Studio, and expertly mastered by David Cain at Soundmaster Studios. For more info, be sure to check out www.kateandhollis.com

Pat Moore and the Vinyl Frontier: Take it to Heart
Awesome collection of hurtin' songs performed by Pat Moore, Al Bragg, Ann Downey, Pat McLaughlin and Bob Bangs. Expertly produced by Al Bragg, Take it to Heart showcases Pat Moore's effortless ability to write and perform songs in the vein of 1950's traditional country. The first record to be mixed with Skidmore Studios' brand spankin' new Pro Tools rig.

World Voices Choir: Ubuntu
Produced by Jeannie Hunter, Ubuntu is a collection of pan African tunes performed by the Brookfield High School World Voices Choir. Recorded on location in the fantastic BHS Auditorium, Ubuntu's 21 tracks feature the vocal talents of The Brookfield students, The Harmonia Choir and the Bayview Public School Choir. It was a fun CD to record and mix!

Julie Larocque: Observatory
Produced with the idea of marrying organic and electronic elements, Julie's latest effort was by far one of the most challenging records I've worked on. Recorded over the course of a month, sometimes into the wee hours of the morning (like 4AM-ish...) Julie delivers a fantastic collection of beat-driven earthy songs. My brother Greg provided the record's excellent guitar playing and took the production to another level. Standout tracks include Abyss, Kaleidoscope, and Descartes.

JRP: Morrison Heights
Follow-up to 2001's Grassfire, JRP's Morrison Heights delivers sweet melodies, lush harmonies and quite possibly some of the best songs ever written. Tracks like Occasional Snowflake, The Park, Wrote You a Song, and Fight Your Way Out, push all the right buttons at all the right times. This one took a long time to make, but it was worth it!

The Souljazz Orchestra: Freedom No Go Die
Pierre Chrétien ups the ante with this release. Let’s see what we got here….. horns, congas, guiro, shekere, drums, bass, Fender Rhodes, analog synths, the Mighty Popo, Alanna Stuart, Marielle Rivard... where do I stop?? This CD is a must have for lovers of Afrobeat and Fela Kuti. Pierre's production expertise and musical arrangement skillz are evident in every funk filled track. Check out Mojuba, The Blind Leading the Blind, and the title track for examples of some deep grooves…

Jeff Meleras: Songs From The Couch
I’m proud of this sucker... it was sad to see it finish! Sweet songwriting and sweet playing add up to one fantastic disc. Songs like Hurricanes, Sad and Lonely, Hard Life, and X-Lover might make you think that this record is filled with doom and gloom, and you'd be right! Somehow, Jeff makes 'em all sound like your favourite Sunday morning playlist! This dude is one of the best.

Michael Kelly: Under The Sun
Mike’s voice and acoustic guitar are just about the loudest things I’ve ever recorded. How he gets such volumes is a mystery to me. Check out Waiting for Wings and Lost in Light. Awesome playing and awesome heart felt songwriting.

Kate and Hollis: The Last Chore
Kate and Hollis deliver such a sweet collection of Appalachian soaked tunes on this Disc. Recorded and mixed over at Al Bragg’s Skidmore Studios, The Last Chore has got it all... guitar, dobro, banjo, upright bass and super tight harmonies. Wayfaring Stranger and Got Boots have a fantastic mood and groove.

Nelson Colt: All Your Love
One day, the world will catch up to Nelson's songwriting skills. Check out The Reason and That Was Then, This is Now... examples of perfect country songcraft. Nelson really belongs in Nashville, but we’re glad he lives here!

Josee Deschenes: Shine
All I really have to say here is "Josee Deschenes, Chris Breitner, Jeff Asselin, and Jerome Jeffrey". 'Nuff said. These people have so much talent it’s not even funny. Standout tracks include It Sounds Like U and Moon Over Bourbon Street. The majority of this record was recorded live off the floor, vocals included…

JW Jones: My Kind Of Evil
Produced by Kim Wilson and featuring Colin James, MKOE has it all: The Wind Chill Factor Horns, Roxanne Potvin, award winner Nathan Morris on bass, and of course, Mr. Jones himself! Recorded in about a week’s time during one of the coldest winters Ottawa’s ever seen, MKOE has a sense of urgency and immediacy that is rarely seen on albums.

Eric Vieweg: The Silver Lining
This was a fun record to mix. Eric’s personality shines through on every track, and every track sets a perfect mood and groove. Impeccably recorded by Eric, Marty Sobb, and Rob Butts, The Silver Lining is one of the coolest albums to come out of Ottawa. Night off the Street and Hotels and Phonebooths sound awesome when driving around town...

Dave Anthony: 31b Victoria
Dave Anthony pulls out all the stops and records a career-making album that is still talked about today. Guest starring Oliver Schroer, Andre Bourbonnais, Byron Pardy, Adam Staple and a host of other top notch players, 31b delivers a knockout punch of fuelled up east coast tunes. One of the last records recorded on Raven Street Studios' Studer A-820 analog 24 track tape machine.

Trevor Tchir: Wooden Castles Fall
I’ve always admired Trevor’s seemingly effortless ability to write a tune. Each track on this disc succeeds in creating a vibe. Check out 53 Bells, Redwater Flow, The Pines, and I've a lie for examples of ultra-solid songwriting. Wooden Castles Fall was recorded at Café Nostalgica, Raven Street Studios, and my unnamed apartment studio I had at the time. Cool memories... also released on Vinyl.

Tony D: Tony D's Jook Joint
Tony D’s Jook Joint is one of my favourite records. Featuring players like Matt Sobb, Sean Burke, Zeek Gross, Frank Scanga, and Mike Turenne, there’s no way this CD could not rock. Fat City Blues, Screaming and Crying, and Tony’s arrangement of Hendrix’s If 6 Was 9 are standout tracks on a standout record. There’s only one Tony D.

JW Jones: Kissing in 29 Days
JW self produces his follow up to My Kind of Evil and shows us all how it's done! Recorded over the course of a month, Kissing in 29 days features the legendary David "Fathead" Newman blowing his sax on three tracks. Once again, the Wind Chill Factor horns make an appearance and drummer Artie Makris fills out the swingin' rhythm section. I, as per usual, did not play tambourine on this recording.

Redwood Central: Behind The Times
Al Wood and Michelle "Red" April dish out a retro set of acoustic numbers that put you in a mood of wine, whiskey, lovin’ and leavin’... complete with all the hangover induced post effects! This is a record for Saturday nights, or for any night of the week where hard livin' and hard drinkin' is on the menu. Behind the Times was the first CD I recorded in its entirety using the Pro Tools recording system. Sounds warm and sweet. Check out Bye, Bye Little Bluebird, Drunk Again, Waking Up, and This Can’t Be Love as examples of Red Wood’s signature sound.
